Metropolis II Kinetic Sculpture

Artist Chris Burden has taken a miniature city and combined it with the ultimate Hot Wheels set at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The project was 4 years in the making and opened this past January. Cars speed up and around tracks at the equivalent of 240 mph creating interesting, colorful mosaics on the sides of the surrounding buildings.

If you decide to visit, check the LACMA website to make sure you arrive at a time when the installation is turned "on." We're pretty sure it's noisy, just like a real metropolis.
